Field recording of birds in my neighborhood and backyard on the east coast of the u. S. I believe a cardinal is most prominent here, but i am not an ornithologist so cannot say for certain. Some smaller birds (finches?) also audible. Recorded through an open window of a screened porch with a tascam dr-40x. Noise removal done through audition's default parameters.

I made this recording of ambient backgroud noise directly beneath the eiffel tower. The shape of the eiffel tower creates a unique acoustic environment in the vicinity of the tower, especially beneath it. You can hear a much higher level of background noise than you would hear in an open area, and the noise is unusual. The tower is made of thin pieces of iron arranged into a complex and very large lattice, which reflects and slices and dices sound in a unique way. Thus you have a high level of very even and unidentifiable background noise as noises from the ground and the platform get bounced around and distorted by the structure of the tower. This recording was made from the ground, with microphones pointed straight upwards about 2 meters off the ground. Noises from the ground travel upwards and bounce around the inside of the tower, then drift back down. There are noises in the tower itself as well, such as elevator motors and people on the platforms. The first platform, at 57 meters, is open in the center, whereas the second platform, at 116 meters, is completely closed and flat on the bottom. Wind moving through the tower also makes noise, and again the open structure of the tower changes the noise in a way that is specific to the eiffel tower. There wasn't much wind at ground level for this recording, but i don't know what the wind speed was at higher levels in the tower. Some voices in multiple languages are audible in the recording, as the area beneath the tower is awash in tourists. Recorded hand-held with a zoom h4n and a mini windjammer, using built-in mics, in stereo 96 khz / 24 bits, then converted to mp3 at 320 kbps because of the size of the file. Duration is about two minutes.

This is a synthesized hi-hat groove. It is basically an on two layers sequenced noise-patch. One layer to create the "closed hat" effect and another one to create the "open hat" effect. I recorded the fan on quite loud and i opened and closed the cd drive on my hp eletebook 8460p, different laptop models have a different frequency from the fan and different cd drives make a different sound when checking it. Recorded from the internal microphone.

A friend sent me an audio file that wasn't supported by windows media player. When opened in audacity, this is what it came out to be (but it was way louder. ) once i converted the original file into mp3, i was able to get the actual file, but i wanted to save this broken one too. The original file was her doing a vocal audition for me, so i posted the broken audio in wav form so no one could take it.

This is a whole lot of longsword-on-longsword sounds. I was specifically trying to get nice sounds for "winding", when two swords are pushed back and forth and around each other as opponents look for an opening. There are also some "binding" sounds, when the two swords first clash. Some of these binding noises did peak the mic. None of these binding noises were the swords hitting at full force - they are all weaker binds. Pick and choose the noises you like to build your sword fight foley.

Xy stereo recording from gärdet subway station in stockholm. This focuses on an older trains doors, various steams and similar "heavy" sound elements. In post: edited in pro tools with som bass cutting (eq) and automation to make some sounds stand out but still sound realistic. Put on a light compressor and pich-shifted down some elements to give more depth. This was in someway inspired by "dead space" tram and door sounds but slightly less "massive" and haunting. Ps. This is the sound of a 98cc sachs engine of a 1938 light motorbike. It is one of the bikes in my private collection. The sounds reflect the fuel cock switching, flooding of the carburettor, sucking of the cylinder and two tries to bring the engine to life. The sound in between is the clutch lever. The engine is started by pedaling the bike on its stand. Main engine run features idle to half throttle open. I recorded this using my small sony cybershot camera. You'll notice that the wind goes from loud to soft to loud again, repeating. This because i am opening the window wide and then after a few seconds i close the window but not completely so that i get some low whistling sounds from the wind. Recorded this while going to the loo in a camping trip. The door was pretty creaky so i decided to record it because it could be a good sound effect. Of course i didn't have any equipment with me so the sound was recorded on my phone, which is why it's a bit echoey and shabby. A sound of an umbrella handle expanding and retracting, making clicking sounds. Great for foley and sound design. Recorded with a tascam tm-80 in a non sound proofed room, without an anti-pop filter. The umbrella was fairly close from the mic during recording. The post-processing was minor, just an eq to cut out some of the superfluous low frequencies.
